The Board of ISIUM met in Bangkok from 11th to 13th December 2017. The main focus of the meeting was to develop ISIUM’s strategic plan for the next two years.

Niyada Kiatying-Angsulee with the help of the staff of the Drug Systems Monitoring and Development Center (DMDC) kindly hosted the meeting in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Chulalongkorn University. Mary Murray and Mary Hemming travelled to Bangkok for the meeting.

Mary Murray developed a process to manage this meeting, and this involved a series of discussion notes or papers being prepared by directors and others before the meeting. Directors were then asked to write comments on each contribution and circulate to the other directors. This process resulted in a focussed discussion on each of the papers during the Skype sessions. The final day’s discussion focussed on activities that ISIUM might undertake and their relative importance at this stage of development.

The Bangkok group – Niyada Kiatying-Angsulee, Mary Murray, Mary Hemming – summarised and crystallised the key points of the discussions each day.

After the last discussion session the Bangkok group used all the notes to develop an outline of ISIUM’s concept and desired achievements in the next two years. Finally, Mary Murray and Mary Hemming put together the new draft of the strategic plan and this was circulated to all Board members for comment.
