Niyada Kiatying-Angsulee obtained her BPharm from Chulalongkorn University, her MSc (pharmacology) from Mahidol University, and her PhD in health policy from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.
She currently leads 3 organisations – Health Action International Asia Pacific, Health and Development Foundation, and the Drug System Monitoring and Development Center (Chulalongkorn University).
Niyada also serves on various committees at the Ministry of Public Health, including the National Antimicrobial Resistance Policy Board, and the Subcommittee on Rational Drug Use Promotion. Previous positions include Director of Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute, a member of the Thai Drug Board, and a member of the Fund for Promotion of Safe and Innovative Media.
Her current focus of work is on drug system monitoring to signal emerging risk factors on health to relevant bodies, to raise awareness among the public, and to advocate for various policies such as antimicrobial resistance, rational use of medicines, and access to medicines. She is also involved in a wide range of other areas such as HIV/AIDS, governance and ethics, injecting drug users, illicit drug policy, cannabis and kratom, trends in emerging drug use, border health and drug systems, women’s health, roles of civil society, and social pharmacy.
